Bits of London

6 Aug

Okay so here I am again after my short holiday with my girlfriend in London. We had a fantastic time there (again), just like we expected. We tried to visit places that we missed during those three months we lived there – of course, there are still a number of places to visit! I can’t wait to finish university and go and look for a job in London.

And I don’t care about the weather.

Because it’s (supposed to be) a fashion blog, I won’t tell you that we acted like real tourists this time; took pictures of the Buckingham Palace, went to Greenwich and we even traveled to the sea as the weather happened to be beautiful.

But I tell you that we arrived with almost empty suitcases in order to fill them with clothes, books, magazines, beauty products that we can’t get (or only for a lot more money) in our country. We have been in every store at the outlet center (from Next to Burberry), we fought to stay alive in the region of Oxford, Regent and Bond street.

PretARever: 100%. Proud to say we have never ever stepped foot in that Oxford Street hell hole. RT @iliketweet: Primark makes me sad.

Oh yes, I admit, we have been in that hell hole. OMG that was unbelievable! There are no words to describe what’s going on in there!

As we flew back from London, the suitcases hit exactly the weight limit, boy, they were heavy! Our flight had a two hour delay, but at least we had a few magazines to read while we waited. I bought Vogue Paris (it was a must, excellent pictures as usual), Dazed and Confused mainly because of the editorial with Ana Beatriz Barros and Karolina Kurkova and a magazine called Oyster, which I haven’t heard about so far, but it seemed to be interesting enough for me to buy it πŸ™‚

I also bought Facehunter by Ivan Rodic and a book about Alexander McQueen. I really love reading!

There was an exhibition which was mentioned by Dapper Kid already, so I went to visit it. Unfortunately, taking pictures inside wasn’t allowed but I can tell you it was more than exceptional.

This was the guide to the exhibition, and here are a few pictures of the entrance:

I wonder why I like this cover...hiii!

On Sunday the Best of June post is going to appear, and prepare for a visit on Monday as Gisele BΓΌndchen is going to be featured in the next issue of Model Monday. On Wednesday I should be posting shoes again, as usual πŸ™‚

Memories of London

3 Jan

Instead of posting the best pictures of December (I guess you’ve had enough of good pictures by now), I post a few snapshots of my time in London.

Let’s start with a extremely British picture:

Now the strictly fashion related pictures:

I don’t think any explanation is needed here…

Anyway, let’s forget about heartbreaking stories like this and travel to the land of glamour, to Wonderland aka Knightsbridge:

My fav pair of this winter. This picture hasn't been taken at Knightsbridge.

It has really been like a dream!

Okay, the last one isn’t really fashion related, but how cute is it??? I heart Green Park!

Reality check

23 Dec

First of all, I feel like I have to mention this week’s utterly sad story. The news really shocked me…

I’ve listened to MGMT’s “Time to pretend” while I’ve selected the pictures…Of course the choice of music was intentional! Talk about goosebumps…

Another sad, this time personal story: I’ve left London, the three months were gone so quickly!

These last month have been very eventful for me, I had a great time in this city. Now I’m really considering moving to London next year after finishing university. I might look for a proper job or maybe start a new college course…my mind is full with fashion right now πŸ™‚

But for now, back to reality…

Last but not least, I wish all of you

The dresses of October 2009

25 Oct

Today is the last Sunday of October, so I did put a few outfits together. I think they represent the current trends in London, I’ve been influenced by all those looks on the streets, I admit.

Let’s say, three sisters went out to party to London’s most fascinating places:

Click here to see all the details – shoes by Brian Atwood, Emanuel Ungaro and Christian Louboutin. I know, I know, these ladies left their home without their purses and without any accessoires πŸ™‚

Okay, let me talk now a bit about the influence and the experiences that I had when I put these outfits together. First of all, I had the opportunity to see the City on a Friday and a Saturday night, which means everyone went nuts there and showed off their outfits. I also had the pleasure to be at a prestigious night club (where a fashion show took place, pictures coming up next week) – I felt like I’d be in the Hills πŸ™‚ The point is, I’ve seen plenty of chick and glamorous girls and ladies, their outfits gave the inspiration how to do the looks of the sisters – of course, with high-end items.

There were also other experiences. In this city, girls wear flats at daytime, there aren’t that many heels during the day – which is quite interesting IMO (except the Japanese ladies who seem to have born with heels on). I know it’s hard to wear them like for 8-9 hours, but still, that’s not impossible. I’ve got a friend who has one pair of flats and that’s her trainers which she uses for running. Anyway, all these girls change when the sun goes down, and almost the whole city has heels on – and they don’t seem to suffer!

Of course, some of them do. I can’t hide my smile when I see a girl carrying her heels in her hands around 1 am, walking on the streets barefoot (=big NO!). Is it impossible to find shoes that don’t kill your feet? Clever girls take a bag with them, in which they have their ballerinas for such occasions…

Another thing: I see girls and ladies in this city going to the party/going home without any jackets, usually without thighs, sometimes wearing peep toe pumps. I can see some of them are freezing in this temperatures (around +3-8 Celcius), some are all right. What is wrong with them? If it’s cold, why don’t they wear a freakin’ jacket? Those who are all right, how come they don’t freeze (no, they aren’t all Russians)? Please tell me the story behind this. The cloakroom isn’t that expensive!

As you see, there are some things that surprise me in London πŸ™‚ If there are any readers from London, feel free to tell about your point of view πŸ˜‰

This week is blog anniversary week, hopefully there will be a lot going on around here, check back often! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for reading, have a nice Sunday!
